Wednesday, February 25, 2004 ::: i'm having this new tide of UA pride (i'm sure u're aware of that too... hehe hope u're not sickened by that) watching a video edited and uploaded by a UA freak on the net the music background + watching the UA giant soaring in the skies is just profoundly moving my first flight on UA 806 on 747-400 from Kai Tak to SFO the good old days of Kai Tak! there are so many good things about the new CLK airport.. new, modern, efficient, an unbeatable design but still, i'm missing the good old days of Kai Tak. that fast food food court... where the whole apron is in sight planes all taxi pass the huge window for take off and usually it's after exam i would go to Kai Tak alone after the joy of browsing through the check in counters as if i were actually going to fly i would buy a bowl of wonton noodles choose a seat by the windows and gaze at all the flying/taxiing giants out there when a 747 takes off - the thrust of the engines would always create a rattling sound of the windows of the cafe and soon afterwards the plane would soar high up and disappear into the sky canvas and i would always wish i could be one of the passengers in the plane and now although the intensity of such an excitement is not as strong whenever i get to fly probably a lil bit 'desensitized'? (which is a sad thing. i really wish i could be innocent again and feel the intense excitement for my first flight) yet i still love flying no experience can compare to it the moment you take off you feel the powerful lift (of your butt) and soon you see the clouds like an endless landscape covered with pure white snow and when you fly east bound the sun sets the clouds dyed in red and violet the most beautiful view on earth (when you fly westbound you get to see the perfect sunset a long sunset you can never see on land) soon the stars rise and it's the tranquility under the starry night not long after that the sun's out there again the clouds, white and pure then FA's start serving meals and the smell of coffee the pressure sets in pain in the ear drum that's when i usually hopes i could stay up in the air for another 10 hours and i'm glad because i still feel the same way every time i fly the interior for Singapore Airline's A345 is really a masterpiece just a look of it... makes me wanna fly HKG-SIN-LAX (or later, HKG-SIN-JFK) economy class like this is just something i can't resist look at the 2-3-2 configuration (versus the usual 2-4-2 configuration) and also the mega PTV isn't that impressive PGIN deadline tomorrow and i still don't have a clue i'm starting to get tired about this but i'm glad to have a source of motivation ::: posted by Wings at 2/25/2004 08:02:00 AM
